Cocaine worth an estimated €50,000 has been seized by gardaí in Co Louth.

The drugs were discovered along with a small quantity of 9mm ammunition during the search of a car at Donore Road in Drogheda at about 6pm yesterday.

A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Drogheda Garda station.
